Blogging this semester was in many ways different and better this semester. I felt that the civic issues blogs were much more enjoyable to write than the RCL blogs of last semester. For my civic issues, I focused my posts on topics relating to politics, and I wrote responses to articles that piqued my own interest as opposed to being assigned writings like last semester.
For my passion blog, I debated changing the topic of my blog to something different, but I ended up keeping the same topic of my favorite band, Metallica. However, these blogs had a different focus; rather than talking about the best moments in the band’s history, I chose a different song each week and performed a lyrical and musical analysis of it. This process reminded me of the poetry analyses I did in high school, for there are many metaphorical layers to the song lyrics, and sometimes it was difficult to discern meaning from them.
All in all, blogging was a much smoother process this semester than last. At times, I found that I lacked the motivation to continue blogging week after week, but in the end I managed to find enjoyment in my writing.
